[/color]LIKES:
horses, pink lemonade, sweatpants, ketchup, humor, cuddling, the smell of leather, a quiet night, the thrill of competition, action movies, modern country music, moderate temperatures, cloudy days, people who don't try to hit on her constantly, spicy food, a good debate.
DISLIKES:
anything sour, anything boring, sitting still for a long time, rap music (or, as she refers to it, "what those kids are listening to these days"), slow music in general, trying to be someone you're not, people who get insulted about everything, young adult novels, telemarketers.
FEARS:
breaking her back/neck/skull. losing her horses. ending up on candid camera. being afraid of any horse. putting her parents in a home.
GOALS:
own a star stallion. learn how to rope (at some point in time). win at a big show.
OVER ALL:
The main aspect of Jackie's personality is incredibly curiosity. I quote, "but since I'm not a cat, that's not dangerous." That's exactly what she thinks of herself: she cannot be touched by things she encounters due to her curiosity. At one point, her parents believed it was simply a phase, but since she obviously hasn't grown out of it, it appears she's stuck.
Hiding under the mass amounts of curiosity, there's a sweet, caring woman. Jackie does not fall in love easily, if at all. She's beginning to think that she never will, namely because she never has. She loves her mother and father, but it's a given love. Outside of her family, Jackie has no feelings for anyone. It even extends to friendships, and is showcased in the fact that Jackie has very people she calls friends.
She's ready and willing to take control of a situation she likes, but won't always step up to the plate to guide people to a solution she knows is bad. Despite her curiosity, Jackie has always been able to see the consequences of her actions, and often won't take part in something that won't end well.[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

BEST MEMORY: Oh, that was totally when I got my first blue ribbon in a tough class. It was when I was fifteen, and I was on Kerry's full brother, Epstein Barr or Eppy, in a 14-15 Equitation Over Fences class. My god, we had an absolutely perfect round. Now, I don't know if you've met Kerry, my hunter, but Eppy was seven at the time, and he was the most bratty horse ever. Oh, in the show ring, he was an angel, but I was always terrified that he would continue his bucking and kicking and refusing in the ring.
Anyways. It was a class of thirty-seven. Thirty-seven! I was fifteenth in the order-of-go, so I saw a few of the rounds at the beginning and more at the end. They were all pretty good, but dammit, my ride was flawless! By the way, this class was already scheduled pretty late, so by the time the last rider had exited, it was ten o'clock. I had Eppy's tack all oiled up and pretty, and I redid his tail braid three times before they called the placings.
Oh my god, I nearly had a heart attack when they called me up! Number 972, I still remember. "First place goes to number 972, Epstein Barr, ridden and owned by Jacqueline Schmidt." We got a cooler and a giant garland and ribbon and a plaque. Eppy, of course, was scared of the garland, but he got over it, and we did our victory lap with the grace of champions. Makes me smile every time I think about it.
WORST MEMORY:
Ugh. My best and worst memories are both horse related. Anyways, it was the next year, and me and Eppy were in a class we really weren't ready for. It was a small class, not really for points, where basically you jumped three jumps, grabbed a ring off a standard, and galloped back. Whoever went fastest, won.
Now, let me remind you that Kerry and Eppy are both hunter horses. They don't go very fast. They jump all round and are lopey and if you take a hold on their face, they freak out. Well, long story short, I really wanted to win, so I put a pair of spurs on and entered the class. We entered the ring at a hand-gallop, faster than usual but not out of control. We did the line of jumps fine, but Eppy was scared of the ring. I grabbed it fine, but the damn horse was freaking out by then.
So he galloped down and we got a really good time. Except for that I couldn't stop him. My mom was yelling to drop the ring, but it turned out that was a very bad idea. Eppy about jumped out of his shoes, did a rollback, and ran for his life. Which was a pretty standard Eppy freakout, which I knew how to stop. Problem was, there were jumps in the way. Not hard jumps at a normal speed, but at a crazy gallop... well, different story. Eppy jumped the first one and I lost both stirrups. The second one didn't go half as well. He decided that he just did not want to save me, and planted his feet a stride away. I tumbled over his head and landed on the jump. I freaking broke a rib in the process!
I spent a day in the hospital while they looked for bleeding. To add insult to injury, we had the fastest time but the show staff disqualified us for "unsafe riding."
